Title:   Electronic Ground State Properties of Strained Graphene

Abstract:
We consider the e ffect of the Coulomb interaction in strained graphene using tight-binding approximation together with the Hartree-Fock interactions. The positions of the Dirac points are shifted in the opposite directions by applying a uniaxial strain. Energy dispersion relation, anisotropic Fermi velocity renormalization and charge compressibility in the presence of the uniaxial strain are calculated. We show that the physical quantities are sensitive to strains and indeed its sign. The charge compressibility is enhanced by stretching as well as suppressed by compressing graphene sheet. We find the reduction of Fermi velocity along graphene deformation in good agreement with the recent experimental observation.
