Journal Club 16: Recent Daya Bay Experiment Results

Ms. Zahra Khajeh Tabrizi from IPM

Abstract: The Daya Bay Neutrino Experiment is a neutrino-oscillation experiment designed to measure the mixing angle q13 using anti-neutrinos produced by the reactors of the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) and the Ling Ao NPP. The researchers found sin22θ13 to be 0.092 with a statistical significance of 5.2σ ? a high level of certainty that is usually associated with a "discovery" in the particle-physics community.
