Generalized entropy and its role in semiclassical quantum gravity and AdS/CFT PHYSICS There is a fascinating interplay between geometry and entanglement. Arguably the most important quantity in this connection is the generalized entropy. In my first talk, I will introduce generalized entropy and explain recent developments in semiclassical gravity that centers around it. Among these developments is the Engelhardt-Wall (EW) prescription for computing von-Neumann entropies of boundary subregions in the context of AdS/CFT. Time permitting, I will discuss the role of the EW prescription in recent works on the black hole information problem.. 11:00 - 12:00 IPM holography virtual seminar Generalized entropy and its role in semiclassical quantum gravity and AdS/CFT School PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS Abstract:There is a fascinating interplay between geometry and entanglement.
