10:00 - 11:00 Weekly Seminar Imaging the link between brain and body School BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES The sympathetic system is a part of the autonomic regulatory mechanism of the brain and body. It modulates the vasculature but also influences emotions and personality. In this work, we characterized spatiotemporal properties of brain resting-state networks (RSNs) and studied phase–amplitude associations of the pulse amplitude changes (indexing sympathetic activity) with RSNs. Low frequency (LF, < 0.1 Hz) fluctuations in the pulse amplitude consistently preceded LF fluctuations in the RSNs. LF phase dispersion (PD) (lack of synchrony) between RSNs and pulse correlated with the common variability in the measures of personality and emotions. In 1984, Foreman-Magidor-Shelah asked if this principle is consistent. In this talk, we discuss some consequences of Foreman's maximality principle, and prove the consistency of some of its variants. The talk is based on joint works with Hayut and Shelah. ... |
