11:00 - 13:00 Theoretical Neuroscience Journal Club Role of the indirect pathway of the basal ganglia in perceptual decision making School COGNITIVE SCIENCES Venue: School of Cognitive Sciences, Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences (IPM), Opposite the ARAJ, Artesh Highway, Tehran, Iran ... 13:30 - 15:00 Weekly Seminar Flare activity and Magnetic feature analysis of flare stars School ASTRONOMY In this talk, magnetically active stars and the relationship between the magnetic feature characteristics and flare parameters will be considered. Data analysis includes 2400 flare stars from Kepler mission in long cadence mode during 4 years of observations. Coverage and stability of magnetic features are inspired from rotational modulation of light curve variation and flare activity of stars are obtained using our automated flare detection algorithm. The results show that flare properties such as frequency and relative power are highly correlated with the magnetic features characteristics on the stellar surface. ... 14:00 - 15:00 Lecture On the Number of Representations of an Integer by a Binary Quadratic Form School MATHEMATICS A quadratic form is a homogeneous polynomial of degree two in any number of variables. he problem of representation of an integer by an integral quadratic form goes back to the ancient ages, whence the Greeks gave the necessary and sufficient conditions for an integer to be represented by the sum of 2,3 or 4 squares, furthermore we can ask for the exact number of representations for which we have the classical theorems of Jacobi on the number of representations of an integer by sum of 2 or 4 squares. In this talk, we will study the number of the solutions of the equation f(x, y) = n, where f is a fixed (integral) positive definite binary qu ... 14:00 - 16:00 Seminar Borderline or Bipolar? Classroom A. 15:00 - 16:00 Weekly Seminar Plasma-based Accelerator: A novel promising technology for high-gradient particle acceleration School PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS Abstract: Plasma-based accelerators are known as a new compact technology having the ability to sustain extremely large accelerating gradients, with possible high-energy physics applications. For high-gradient particle acceleration a significant increase in the magnitude of the accelerating field is required and plasma-based acceleration does offer an answer to this problem. Several ways of using the plasma for generation of a strong accelerating field named wakfiled have been suggested. In this talk, the different mechanisms of plasma wakefiled generation are discussed and the recent simulation results on the wakefield generation and particl ... 16:30 - 18:00 Physics Colloquium Does String Theory Avoid Its Own Swampland?
