Conference on Gravity and Cosmology PHYSICS Farmanieh Conference Hall ... 10:00 - 11:00 Weekly Seminar Endogenous Chemiluminescence from the biological system School BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES Abstract: It is well known that all biological systems which undergo oxidative metabolism or oxidative stress generate a small amount of light. Consequently, luminescence is emitted which could be exploited for non-invasive label-free monitoring of oxidative stress. Since the origin of excited states producing this light is generally accepted to come from chemical reactions, the term endogenous biological chemiluminescence is appropriate. Apart from biomedicine, this phenomenon has potential applications also in plant biology and agriculture like monitoring the germination rate of seeds. Spectral analysis of this endogenous chemilumine ... 11:00 - 15:00 Theory Weekly Seminar(TWS) Lecture Series on Critical Curves-Fourth Session School PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS Abstract: When two different phases of matter are simultaneously present they meet at a phase boundary or interface. As the temperature (or other macroscopic parameters) approaches the criticality, this boundary becomes scale invariant we have referred to such curves as critical curves. In these lectures we will present and discuss certain tools namely Schramm-Loewner Evolution (SLEk) to describe such critical curves. Larak Seminar Room |
