13:30 - 15:00 Weekly Seminar Cosmological Filaments in the light of Excursion Set of Saddle Points School ASTRONOMY The universe in large scales is structured as a network, called cosmic web. Filaments are one of the structural components of this web, which can be introduced as a novel probe to study the formation and evolution of structures and as a probe to study the cosmological models and even to address the missing baryon problem. The aim of this work was to introduce an analytical framework to study the statistics of filaments. In this direction, I have a plan to present an approach to obtain the length to mass relation of filaments and the number density of filaments per length and mass. For this objective, I will model filaments as collapsed object ... 14:00 - 16:00 Seminar Functional Mapping of Spontaneous and Evoked Neurotransmission Reveals Intersynaptic Heterogeneity School COGNITIVE SCIENCES Abstract: Venue: School of Cognitive Sciences, Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences (IPM), Opposite the ARAJ, Artesh Highway, Tehran, Iran on map * To join the mailing list: Send an empty email to: scs at ipm dot ir on the subject of: #join ... 14:00 - 15:00 Weekly Seminar HEPCo Group Topology of Cosmological Black Holes School PHYSICS Farmanieh Building, Seminar Room Class D (3rd floor) ... 14:00 - 15:00 Weekly Seminar The Conference of the Birds: An Old Artistic Concept Making Sense in Modern Sciences School NANO SCIENCES The Conference of the Birds: An Old Artistic Concept Making Sense in Modern Sciences In this talk, I will discuss scientific aspects of an old Persian story, Simorgh, in the book of The Conference of the Birds. The story is fulfilled with artistic and philosophical metaphors that make sense in two hot topics of the contemporary modern sciences i.e. cognitive science and complexity science. The poet addresses some humanity's bygone concerns and fundamental questions about self, the quality that shapes a person's uniqueness, and essential existence. The sophisticated language used in the poem contains allusions, symbols, and ... 15:00 - 16:00 Weekly Seminar Magneto-transport in a Weyl fluid School PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS Abstract: The large negative magneto-resistance in the Weyl semimetals, predicted by the chiral kinetic theory, was recently observed in the transport measurements of the ZrTe5 Weyl semimetal. We argue that in order to compute the magneto-transport in a relativistic Weyl fluid, it is needed to take into account the quantum corrections, to second order. Finding the corresponding corrections to the energy dispersion of Weyl particles, we then compute the magneto-conductivities in the framework of chiral kinetic theory. We show that our results obey a set of Ward identities which follow from a generating functional with Chern-Simons part, while ... |
