Autonomous Quantum Clocks: Does Thermodynamics Limit Our Ability to Measure Time?

Time remains one of the least well-understood concepts in physics, most notably in quantum mechanics. A central goal is to find the fundamental limits of measuring time. One of the main obstacles is the fact that time is not an observable and thus has to be measured indirectly. Here, we explore these questions by introducing a model of time measurements that is complete and autonomous. Specifically, our autonomous quantum clock consists of a system out of thermal equilibrium-a prerequisite for any system to function as a clock-powered by minim ...

The study of the structure and luminosity of supercritical viscous accretion flow in the presence of large scale magnetic field and outflow

    ASTRONOMY

We have studied the structure and luminosity of the supercritical viscous, steady state and axisymmetric accretion flow in the presence of large scale of magnetic field (by considering of the toroidal and vertical components of magnetic field (B_phi,B_z)) and outflow by using the self-similar solutions in the cylindrical coordinates (r,phi,z). Our results represent that two components of magnetic field have the opposite effects on the thickness of the disc while the disc accretes and rotates faster by adding two components of magnetic field. Our results show that the luminosity of the slim discs for high values of mass accretion rate is kept ...

Gaussian theory for derivation of continuum equations of selfpropelled particles

The collective behavior of active matters, e.g. colony of micro swimmers and flocks of birds can be modeled with self-propelled particles. It is evident that a continuum description of such systems is useful in determining the collective behavior in large and long scales. One can make continuum equations in active matter with the help of symmetry arguments. However, the equation is in a phenomenological level with undetermined transport coefficients. It is possible to construct the continuum equations from microscopic rules to find the transport ...

    On Jones Polynomial and Geometry

    School
    MATHEMATICS

The connection between the geometry of knot complement and Jones polynomial or related quantum invariants has been a major problem in quantum topology. The famous conjectures like the Volume conjecture and the Slope conjecture predict that the hyperbolic geometry and the topology of surfaces in knot complement are closely related to colored Jones polynomials. Here we will focus on the connection between Jones polynomial and the topology of essential knot surfaces. In this lecture after a quick overview, we will talk about the problem of fiber detection of state surfaces of a knot diagram and its relation to Jones polynomial. ...

The Generation of B-Mode and Circular Polarization of Cosmic Photons due to NonCommutative Space-Time Background

    PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS

In standard model of cosmology, B-mode polarization of the Cosmic Microwave Background cannot be generated by Compton scattering in the presence of scalar mode of matter perturbations. However it is possible to have B-mode by Compton scattering due to tensor mode of matter perturbations which is related to gravitational e?ects in the in?ation epoch. We consider Compton scattering in noncommutative framework and show that Compton scattering in presence of non-commutative background and scalar mode of perturbation, beside generating a circularly polarized microwave, can leads to a B-mode polarization of the Cosmic Microwave Background . We also ...
