11:00 - 12:30 Weekly Seminar Probing the effect of UV radiation on the chemistry around evolved stars School ASTRONOMY UV radiation fields impact the chemistry of circumstellar envelopes (CSEs) around evolved stars. However, there is little research on the influence of internal UV sources such as chromospheric activity and binary companions on the physical and chemical conditions of CSEs, since previous studies are mostly based on low-resolution single-dish observations which are unable to resolve such effects. The ALMA observations of R Scl, a carbon AGB star, have provided high spatial resolution observations of 12CO, 13CO and H13CN line emission which have deepened our understanding of the effect of UV chemistry around R Scl. In this talk, I will discuss t ... |
