09:00 - 12:00 Ph.D Defense Session Modeling the effects of EM wave radiation on performance of brain cell's activity, considering nanostructures of membrane School NANO SCIENCES Modeling the effects of EM wave radiation on performance of brain cell's activity, considering nanostructures of membrane There are concerns about the health effects of exposure to non-ionizing electromagnetic fields. The effect of electromagnetic radiation on neurons have been studied computationally both in continuum and atomistic scale. The effect of alternating external field on the pattern of an axon's action potential and its propagation has been investigated by incorporating effect of alternating electric field in the non-linear Hodgkin-Huxley cable model. The results illustrate that for a wide range of frequencies, t ... 13:30 - 15:00 Weekly Seminar Walking in the Cosmos: Topics in Excursion Set theory School ASTRONOMY In this talk, I will go through the non- linear structure formation studies and will discuss the main questions in this arena. Accordingly, I will introduce the concept of the Excursion Set Theory (EST) which is a mathematical formalism in order to obtain the number density of dark matter structures and related quantities in non-linear regime like merger history, bias and etc. Then I will discuss the two main contributions that we recently have in EST. One is known as the Matrix formalism of EST and the other is the incorporation of the concept of Markov length in EST. ... 14:30 - 18:00 Physics Colloquium Dark Matter: from an historical perspective to recent results and prospects School PHYSICS Farmanieh Conference Hall ... |
