  Abstract:
We consider D3-brane action in the maximally supersymmetric type IIB plane-wave background. Upon fixing the light-cone gauge, we obtain the light-cone Hamiltonian which is manifestly supersymmetric. We then focus on specific classes of BPS solutions of this theory, the classes in which the electric or magnetic field on the brane is turned on. We construct 1/4 and 1/8 BPS configurations. These solutions are generically of the form deformed giant three sphere gravitons. In particular we study the configurations corresponding to electric dipoles on the three sphere giant, constant electric or magnetic fields on the brane. that is The former corresponds to BIons on the giant gravitons and the latter is the realization of squashed giants and giant magnons.
